Vegan restaurant serving playful, imaginative japanese and fusion dishes in beautiful Kyoto.
The restaurant is headed by a Fukushima-born chef, Asuka Hashimoto, who was herself raised on a vegan diet by nutritionist parents - so it's easy to see where the love for healthy, colorful food comes from.
Their menu is in a constant flux based on which organically grown ingredients are both in season and of particularly good quality at any given time which is why we chose an expressive, a bit abstractified approach. Instead of soon-to-be-replaced plates we photographed their obsession; fantastical ingredients reaching out from the Japanese soil (both in the literal and cultural sense)
which is represented by the washi paper backgrounds in the final images.
